AFG Independence Fund update
For many young people living in Foyers obtaining the financial resources to achieve their goals to independence can be a challenge.
The AFG Independence Fund was established to provide young people living in Foyers the support to achieve their education, vocational and personal goals with grants up to $1000. This would typically include requests such as lap tops, course fees and training, professional equipment/clothing or personal items to improve their physical and mental wellbeing.
The first round of the AFG Independence Fund was completed in August 2021 to an extremely positive response. There were 26 successful applications, totalling $16,835.34 of approved enquiries at an average gift amount of $647.51.
In review the requests were well aligned with the objectives of the AFG Independence Fund. The most popular items were laptops (7), car related payments (5) for mobility and access to work, course fees and professional clothing.
We look forward to providing more young people with the resources they need to meet their educational, vocational and personal goals as round 2 of funding opens up!
