The Queensland Government has announced Toowoomba as the eighth Youth Foyer to be delivered under its commitment to expand the state’s Youth Foyer network.
Combined with existing Youth Foyers in Townsville, Logan and on the Gold Coast, this investment will support more than 3,000 young Queenslanders to transition to independent, thriving futures over the next ten years.
Today’s commitment reflects the power of collaboration in scaling an evidence-based solution. Three of the eight new Youth Foyers are co-funded by the Albanese Government, following the collective advocacy of more than 15 organisations involved in the QLD FoyerInvest Working Group.
Liz Cameron-Smith, Co-CEO of the Foyer Foundation said the scale of Queensland Youth Foyer network would be felt for generations to come.
“Young people facing homelessness, like every young person, need stability, support and opportunity to set themselves up for a thriving future.
“Across 11 Youth Foyers, more than 3,000 young Queenslanders will now have a safe and stable home, integrated with the coaching and support they need to complete their studies, find work and build independent lives.
“The flow-on impact of that, for their communities and our economy, is immeasurable.”
Foyer Ambassador Caitlyn, a former resident of the Logan Youth Foyer, said the support she received had set her on a path she couldn’t have found alone.
“The Foyer gave me the space to grow, to lead, and to believe in myself… it gave me the future I never thought I could have.”
Knowing that thousands more young people in Queensland will get that same chance means everything.”
