Following his involvement in the Australian SBS TV series Filthy, Rich and Homeless, Australian comedian Ciaran Lyons has seen, first hand, the seriousness of homelessness in Australia and understands the urgency of finding a solution.
Filthy, Rich and Homeless saw Ciaran face homelessness for 10 days as part of the televised experience. In this 10 days he found himself at the Southern Youth Foyer, hearing from youth living in the foyer and spending time with them participating in group activities.

Following this experience, Ciaran told 7News: “Even though I knew there was an end date to the experience, just getting that small taste into what it was like to be stripped of everything and feel the harsh reality of not having a home, rejection, loneliness, and isolation that those experiencing homelessness face every single day, was enough to make me realise homelessness is an urgent issue that needs a solution.”
Talking about his experience, Ciaran believes everyone needs to work together to find a solution to homelessness, through respect, affordable housing, mental health support and financial support.
